Something Only I Can Do

There is a task I am meant to do—

Something that I, and only I, can fulfill.

To listen gently to someone’s story,

To look deeply into the depths of their eyes,

To wait patiently until their heart softly opens,

And to approach their soul, heart to heart.

‍

As if reaching back to the child I once was—

The one who waited so long and so desperately

For someone to simply approach her first—

I offer my hand without judgment, without calculation.

‍

Deep in the woods, encircled closely

By winter trees as tall as mountains,

With brown leaves rustling beneath my feet

And a cloudless, pristine sky arching overhead,

I come to realize:

Happiness is always hidden right in the center

Of our small, imperfect hearts.

There is a task I am meant to do—

Something that I, and only I, can fulfill.

To share the beauty that I see,

To share the warmth that I feel.

Like a small bird in the woods singing to the dawn,

Announcing that the darkness of last night has passed,

And welcoming a new day blessed by the sun.

‍

Even if it appears impossible,

Even if it feels unattainable,

To search for the hidden meaning along the path we walk,

And to gently shape and comfort myself

So that this meaning aligns with the purpose of my life,

Moving forward together, step by step.

There is a task we are meant to do—

Walking side by side, following the song of the little bird,

And whispering softly with a warm, tender smile:

This path is beautifully worth walking.
